Dublin City Council today launched the Grafton Street Improvement Scheme. This highly-anticipated €4m project will see the street’s existing red brick surface replaced with high quality natural stone, new public lighting and street furniture. The stone will be granite in the main and a significant portion comes from the Dublin and Wicklow Mountains.
Service solutions provider Capita has announced it will create 800 jobs in Ireland over the next three years.The majority of the jobs will be based in Dublin. Capita provides professional and outsourced services to companies in Ireland, including international companies based in Ireland. Its clients include many of the world's leading banks and financial service companies, including Goldman Sachs, Citibank and NAMA. Capita currently employs 800 people in Dublin and Maynooth.
Lucan is the first village in South Dublin County to offer free Wi-Fi to the public in 2013. This is a pilot scheme and it is hoped that Wi-Fi provision will be eventually extended to other towns and villages throughout the County.

Special Olympics Ireland's National Football Cup took place on Saturday, 11th May, 2013 in Malahide United Football Club, Dublin. The Men’s 11-a-side Cup Final saw Dundrum taking on Sporting Fingal. The National Cup Competition is run on a knock out basis. 8 teams from throughout the country participate in the competition and, after a number of rounds, Dundrum and Sporting Fingal remained to contest the final.
